Speaking to The Daily Star, Hamaguchi acknowledged fan calls for Rebirth DLC, saying, “We definitely do hear the desire from fans, the voices out there that want that kind of thing.”

“So that’s why we’ve decided not to focus the development resources on creating additional extra episodes for DLC at the moment. We really are putting all our efforts into getting the third game out as quickly as we can. So for the moment, that’s where we’re focusing our time.”

After constant rumors, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was announced during E3 2015. In the years that followed, information on the title was limited, leaving fans in an impatient limbo. The game was finally released in 2020 to a rousing reception, and four years later, Rebirth was released to similar acclaim. It’s during these development cycles that the Remake team almost certainly realized the necessity of getting the games out as quickly as possible— to satiate the needs of its rabid fan base, and it’s because of this, you can see why Hamaguchi is focused on getting Part 3 out as soon as possible.
