Dragon Age: The Veilguard has launched to overall positive reviews. BioWare had a lot to think about in the ten years since the last game, and has changed a lot of features from the previous titles. While combat is perhaps the biggest differentiating factor from previous titles, the developers have also gone for a distinct art style for the latest entry.

Despite under utilising Solas’ narrative potential, strong character writing and varied quests make The Veilguard a fantastic RPG
With BioWare’s latest game off to a good start, all eyes will soon be, if not already, on the next installment of the Mass Effect series. After the positive reception of The Veilguard, Mass Effect project director Michael Gamble received a lot of questions about the next title. He answered a few of them, giving us a few minor details.
Mass Effect Is Mass Effect
Taking to Twitter, Gamble told fans that Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Mass Effect are two very different projects. One is based on medieval fantasy, while the other is a sci-fi series, and each requires a different kind of approach in terms of developmental strategy. “Both are from the studio, but Mass Effect is Mass Effect. How you bring a Sci Fi RPG to life is different than other genres or IPs…and has to have different kinds of love,” he said.
However, what really stuck out was Gamble’s reply to a tweet that likened The Veilguard’s art style to that of a Pixar animation. He replied saying that while he doesn’t agree with the statement, Mass Effect will continue working with the photorealistic art style it has used in all previous games.
“I’m not sure I agree with the Pixar thing,” he replied. “But Mass Effect is photorealistic and will be as long as i’m running it.”
This reply seemed to be received pretty well by fans of the series, who were hoping that the art style of the next title isn’t a big departure from the original games. In fact, one of the comments even mentioned that BioWare should use the same tech that was used for Anthem’s facial animations.
Apart from that, Gamble addressed questions regarding the tone of the upcoming Mass Effect game, saying that it will “maintain the mature tone of the original Trilogy.”
He also commented on a tweet that said many players are comparing Dragon Age: The Veilguard to Mass Effect 2 (thanks GamesRadar). He simply replied, “there are some mass effect vibes, yes…..” A very cryptic reply, but based on our review, we can definitely say that the vibes are real.
