Hades 2 is full of interesting and complex characters with their own problems and objectives to sort. Much like Orpheus and Eurydice in the first game, Narcissus and Echo require your aid in settling the score between them. Turns out, Nemesis didn’t quite get everything right the first time.
In a lengthy back-and-forth, you’ll have to unravel the mystery of their conflict over the course of many nights. But of course, nothing is ever completely simple (especially when Narcissus is involved). When Narcissus’s pool clouds over, you’ll have the opportunity to finally put things to straights.
How To Find Narcissus And Echo
Both NPC’s have their own independent rooms along your run to Tarturus. Provided you make it to the third boss, you should encounter both in almost every run on the way to Chronos.
- Narcissus can be found in Oceanus, the second realm.
- Echo can be found in the Mourning Fields, the third realm.
Once found, you can speak with each about their own unique boons. However, to begin progressing their quest, we recommend giving each at least one Nectar.
How To Complete Narcissus And Echo’s Quest: Voice And Vanity
Narcissus and Echo’s quest should proceed naturally through dialogue as you encounter both individuals. Typically, the quest structure depends on speaking to Narcissus first and then receiving Echo’s reply. You relay that reply on your next encounter with Narcissus.
As a result, this can mean that if you die before you find Echo on a run, their quest will be put on hold until the next time you can speak with her. Narcissus won’t say anything about their relationship until you have the chance to speak with Echo.
Eventually, the pond in front of Narcissus will begin to cloud over. He’ll be extremely upset, but there’s nothing you can do immediately. Echo has nothing helpful to say at this point, so continue speaking with Narcissus until:
- Melinoe offers to clean the pond.
- Narcissus agrees to speak with Echo.
How To Clean Narcissus’s Pond
Narcissus and Echo must meet twice before the quest can progress any further. After the couple is found together in the Mourning Fields two times, speak with Narcissus in Oceanus.
He’ll accuse Melinoe of lying, and the incantation for cleaning his pond will become available in the cauldron after returning to the Crossroads at this point.
It may be required to speak with Echo as well at this point to make sure she’s happy. This is uncertain as both conditions were cleared for us in the same run. At this point, however, it is likely you should be able to do both in the same run.
Returning to the Crossroads, you can cast the incantation:

After this costly incantation is cast, the pond in front of Narcissus should be clear during your next visit.
If you don’t remember where to get the ingredients, you can find Cattail seeds in Oceanus, Tears from defeating Cerberus, and Mandrake seeds in the Rift of Thessaly on the surface.
How To Finish Narcissus And Echo’s Quest
With Narcissus’s pond clear, return to Narcissus and speak to him. After completing dialogue with him, your prophecy will be complete and his personal prophecy, “Denier of Suitors,” will be unlocked. However, let’s not leave things here quite yet.
Continue to Echo to relay Narcissus’s final wish. While this isn’t necessary for completing the quest, it is required for unlocking (and likely completing at this point) Echo’s personal prophecy: “Voice of Truth.”
